Policies & FAQs
-
What is the minimum and maximum amount of students in a class?
Classes must meet a 6-student minimum. A maximum of 12 students will be admitted to each session. The class size is limited to 6 to 12 for best results. Since young students are learning self-regulation skills, they require a higher teacher-to-student ratio which supports a richer learning environment.
-
What does my child need for class?
Just themselves! They should wear comfortable clothing. They will be asked to remove their shoes before entering the yoga studio, and it's okay for them to wear socks or bare feet. We have mats at the studio but you’re also welcome to bring your own.
-
Is food or drink allowed in the studio?
No food or snacks are allowed in the studio. A water bottle is permitted.
-
Where are classes located and is there parking?
The signature 8-week programs are located at East Side Yoga and Fitness located in the heart of South Boston at 584 East Broadway. There is street parking or the option to briefly double park during pick up or drop off.
-
Can I stay at the studio while my child is in class?
Parents are encouraged to drop their child at class. There is a lobby area in the studio where parents are welcome to stay during class if they prefer. To note, the doors will be closed to the studio so parents will not be able to watch the class.
-
Why is the program 8 weeks long instead of 4 or 6 weeks?
The Family Yoga Project’s programs are 8 weeks in length to provide a richer learning experience for the children and their families. Since the lessons teach yoga skills that are meant to be used at school, home and beyond, 8 weeks allows students to become familiar with the class format and for the teacher and families time to reinforce the concepts learned.
-
How many programs are offered throughout the year?
There are three series throughout the year: Winter, Spring, and Fall. The Family Yoga Project will run additional pop-up events, workshops, and possibly camps throughout the year so stay tuned!
-
If my child has attended one program and is interested in another series, will the classes be different?
Yes! Each seasonal series has a unique curriculum. Some of the content of the program relates to the time of year and the seasons, holidays, birthdays, and other unique aspects of each 8 week session. Children and families will learn new lessons, mindfulness tools, and activities in each seasonal session they attend.
-
How flexible are the age ranges for each program?
If you’re interested in signing up but your child is just outside of the age range for a program, please contact me directly to discuss. The programs are designed with developmental ages in mind but I may flexible in situations where it makes sense.
-
My child has a food allergy. Will there ever be food products as part of the class?
No, there will be no food products allowed in the studio during children’s classes. If there is food offered at family pop-up events, it will be stated in the marketing and sign-up materials.
-
If we have to miss a class, what is the make-up and refund policy?
Regular weekly attendance in your enrolled series class is the ideal way to instill the invaluable lessons and benefits of yoga. However, we know things come up and trips are planned! If your child misses class for any reason, we will credit up to 2 classes for future pop up classes or toward a future program.
-
What happens if it’s a snow day?
In most cases, classes will only be cancelled if East Side Yoga is closed for a snow day. If schools have a snow day, but East Side Yoga is open and running classes, we will most likely hold our regularly scheduled classes. Cancellations will be communicated at least 3 hours before the scheduled class. In the event of a class cancellation, no refunds will be given, however you will keep that class on your account to be used for a future class or program.
